Dublin Touring Theatre (DTT) is a one-stop theatrical and film production company. We write, direct and produce our own work. We tour extensively, taking our plays and productions to theatres, community venues, day-care centres, schools and any venue where it is safe to perform what we do. BACKGROUND
It began with . . .
A chance meeting between Vinnie McCabe and Michael Harnett in 2018 where old friendships were rekindled and new ideas sparked into a fresh theatrical collaboration to present new work to new audiences – relevant and contemporary topics – to community groups, secondary schools, and audiences in traditional and local settings. Since then, the Dublin Touring Theatre has toured extensively bringing a new play each year to audiences all over Ireland and the UK. Most recent figures reveal and annual production rate of 90 performances to 9000 people.
Vinnie McCabe
Actor, director, producer, Vinnie trained in the Abbey and Dublin Drama Centre. He was a founder member of SLOT Players, Project Arts, The Children’s T Company, The Actor’s Centre, Red Rex, Rosaleen Dubh Culture, Film Base, Celtic Mouse, Interpretive Artists Ireland, Docklands Cultural Forum, Allergy Films. He has performed in the Abbey, Gaiety, Olympia, Project, Axis, Civic, Sean O’Casey, Driocht, Pavilion and Palace, Arts Theatre, Bush Theatre, ICA, Royal Court in London. He has toured Ireland, the UK, Russia, Italy, Hong Kong, Poland and the USA. TV includes Strumpet City, Glenroe, Mobile Home, Private Lives, Fair City, Dalziel and Pascoe, and more. For his starring role in THE NOBLE CALL he was nominated for an IFTA.
Michael J. Harnett
Michael has scripted and produced TV commercials and documentaries for audiences in Ireland and the US. He has also written many plays for RTE. Stage plays include, SHAMMIN THE READ, a community drama based in Dublin’s dockland, THE LAD FROM LAGHY, set in Donegal during World War 11, THE BOYS, a coming of age drama set in Drumcondra, THE NOBLE CALL, set in a Dublin hospice, THE CLOUDSPOTTER, a drama about a grandmother forced to raise her grandson on her own, and BULLIED, the story of the grief inflicted on a teenage girl by her peers. Forthcoming productions include, MADEIRA and SHADOWS FROM THE SKY. Michael was a prize winner at the Wexford literary Festival and was awarded the Writer’s Guild award for screenwriting. He has an MA in screenwriting.
HISTORY
Vinnie and Michael, with Gareth Keogh, had worked before in Red Rex, a theatre company which produced among other works, the plays of Sam Sheppard and, most notably, a nationwide tour of Tom Murphy’s The Blue Macushla which ended up as a major hit in the Mansion House as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival.
