It’s the 1970s and Sally and her boyfriend Martin, full of hope and excitement, leave Dublin for the bright lights of London. Still in their late teens, and naive about the political realities of the time, Martin joins the RAF and is posted to Cyprus. Two years later, following the death of his mother, Martin returns to Cabra for the funeral where, because he is a member of the British armed forces, he is viciously assaulted. Martin never recovers from that incident. Eventually, and with some reluctance, Sally faces her fear and returns to Ireland to confront those responsible for attacking her husband all those years before.
Starring Ann Russell, Brid McCarthy, Owen O’Gorman. SALLY’S RETURN is a play about hope, a story of how courage can restore our belief that life is worth living.
